Meet Our Founder: Justin Amerson

 

With an illustrious career that took a transformative leap from a two-decade tenure in food service to cybersecurity, our founder embodies the adaptability and expertise that are the cornerstone of Southern Tier Cybersecurity.

 

Background and Experience:  

  1. Career Transition: After nearly 20 years of diverse experience in food service, from fast-food to fine-dining, our founder pivoted his career focus to Cybersecurity and Information Assurance in 2010.

  2. Academic Achievements: Holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Western Governors University, he is currently on a sabbatical from his Doctorate in Information Technology at Capella University, with plans to return soon.

  3. Industry Certifications: He has garnered close to 30 industry-recognized certifications from leading organizations such as CompTIA, EC-Council, ISC2, ISACA, Microsoft, Cisco, and Juniper. His current certifications include CISSP, CISM, CEH, CHFI, Project+, Security+, and MS Azure.

  4. Professional Roles: Relocated to New York’s Southern Tier in 2020 to serve as Lead Consultant and IT Security Analyst at Corning, Inc. Currently, he is a cybersecurity consultant at Beth Israel Lahey Health, Boston, MA, and an adjunct professor at Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement.

  5. Previous Engagements: His former positions include roles as Senior Information Security Engineer at CenturyLink (now Lumen Technologies), Senior Threat Hunter at Dish Networks, and Senior ROC/NOC Engineer at CompuVision.

  6. Personal Interests: Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys spinning vinyl records and spending quality time with his dogs.
